The Institute of Secondary Education Miguel de Cervantes of Murcia is a public centre located in the Northwest zone of the city of Murcia, in the neighbourhood of San Basilio. Its facilities are typical of a centre that has more than 60 years and more than 80% of its teachers are permanent personal, so there is great continuity in the projects and educational programs that are undertaken.
In the surroundings, there are buildings destined mainly for middle-class houses, whose ground floors occupy small shops. The area is well connected, with good transport services, sports (Pabellón de San Basilio) and cultural (El Diario la Opinion, Puertas de Castilla Cultural Center, School of Languages and other IES). The socio-economic level of the area is medium, by alternating social housing (occupied by workers and families with low income), and other free income inhabited by officials, free professionals, families of medium economic level, etc.
Some students come to our school from the outskirts of the city of Murcia. The centre is an example of tolerance and integration in which we can find students from twenty-seven different nationalities. In fact, we have over 16% of foreign students this academic year (325 in total).
Currently, the following teachings are taught:
